Retired Numbers
On Sunday May 14, the Yankees will officially retire Derek Jeter’s # 2. While I’m not a Yankees fan, it’s hard to deny that Derek Jeter was a great player and deserving of this distinction. So, in honor of the retirement of # 2, I decided to create a data visualization showing all retired numbers in the United States’ major professional sports leagues—Major League Baseball, National Basketball Association, National Football League, and National Hockey League.
