New Viz: Rating the Presidents
As you may be able to tell by the topics of many of my visualizations, I’m a bit of a political junkie. Of particular interest is presidential politics. That being said, I have to admit that I don’t have as much knowledge as I’d like about the presidents of the past and what made them good or bad (or just somewhere in between). So, when I learned that C-SPAN sponsors an annual survey of historians, professors, and other “professional observers of the presidency” in order to rate and rank the presidents, I was incredibly intrigued. I found myself digging through the data trying to understand the strengths and weaknesses of each president. After spending way too much time with the data, I decided to visualize it. The result is my new viz, Rating the Presidents. Hope you enjoy it (and maybe learn something along the way)!!

Firstly, thanks so much for sharing the viz - it is amazing! I have a question on how do you create the background images of the coxcombs i.e. the circular grids?
