5 Things You Can Do in Web Edit, But NOT Tableau Desktop
I tend to use Web Edit for finishing touches. But I've begun to use Web Edit more and more as we've continued to see more parity between Desktop and Web Edit. Although Tableau has made great strides toward parity, Desktop still has more functionality than Web Edit. However, did you know that there are numerous things that you can do in Web Edit and you cannot do in Tableau Desktop? Some of these features are really incredible and have saved me loads of time and energy. Spoiler alert - one of them is Spell Check!!!!
Before we proceed, I wanted to thank Britt Stanair, Joe Chirilov, and Shaun Davis as much of what you will see - came out of conversations with these folks. I should also note that one of the tricks came out of a chat after Ken and I presented for a virtual TUG. DeleteOn the hyperlinking in web edit - while the links do have to be copied from a URL you can also type a link into a web browser and copy it from there. I've found it useful for things like adding a auto-download link for a company-branded font used in the dashboard or a "contact owner" re-direct link to my slack profile. Great video!

ReplyDeleteYes, see the following article on how to make a hyperlink to an email address: https://www.buildableweb.com/article?articleTitle=making-a-clickable-link-to-an-email-address--1294531104--81--howto. Essentially, you just add "mailto:" to the front of the address.
