Our Favorite Vizzes of 2025

In late 2021, Ken and I chose our favorite Tableau Public vizzes ever. Then in 2022, we started an annual tradition of choosing our favorite vizzes of the year, this time was for 2021. We continued that tradition in 20222023, 2024...and are doing it again for 2025. In this blog post, we will reveal our ten favorite vizzes of 2025 starting at number ten and moving down to our favorite viz of the year. For each, we will provide a small screenshot, but we encourage you to click on the links to see them in their full glory. Please note that although I am composing this blog post, all of the selections and commentary were developed as a team between Ken and me.

But before we press on, we do have some ground rules.

1) Tableau Only: We think that Tableau is the Bees Knees, so all of our selections were built in Tableau and published to Tableau Public.

2) Data Visualizations Only: Throughout the year, people create some absolutely amazing and incredibly useful instructional workbooks on Tableau Public. We love these so much, but for this list, we will be focusing on “pure” data visualizations only.

3) No Flerlages: We can't pick any of our own vizzes or each other’s.

4) Lisa Trescott Rule (also known as the Adam McCann , Brian Moore, and the Kasia Gąsiewska-Holc Rule): We will pick no more than one viz from any single author.

5) Attribution: we chose these vizzes because we love them. We will do our very best to provide information about the author's original inspiration and give attribution if applicable. That said, we did not create these vizzes so we simply may not know where the author was inspired.

6) We Arent' Looking at Every Detail:  We looked through hundreds of vizzes to complete this list. In each one that we picked, we did not explore every detail of the visualization. We did not complete research on the topic or do any type of data validation. By choosing these visualizations, we are also not claiming their "perfection". There are most certainly things that could be improved in all of them. That said, we think that these are, in fact, the best ten based on often just a surface-level understanding of the content.

7) There are Thousands of Amazing Vizzes:  There were soooo many amazing visualizations published to Tableau Public this year, way more than we could ever begin to mention here in this blog post. If you don't get a mention here, don't worry. Keep learning, keep creating, keep inspiring others, and keep doing amazing work!

Okay, before we move on, you might be wondering why the title image shows two dogs wearing sunglasses while high-fiving. Well, it's because two dogs wearing sugnlasses while high-fiving is awesome!  (These look just like my dogs by the way...yes, intentionally.) And, like the last two years, AI image creators are also one of our favorite things from 2025. This one came from Midjourney.

Okay, now onto the top ten. We will go in descending order starting with number 10 and count down to our favorite viz of the year.

Dimitry really caught our eyes this year. He only has 12 vizzes on his Tableau Public profile and you can see the incredible amount of growth from the first one to the last. He had three vizzes in our top 30.

This viz is just so visually appealing. The interactivity is top-notch. And the design is just so meticulous, even down to the gradient background. Keep an eye on Dimitry, we expect to see big things from him in the coming years.

It's likely no surprise to anyone to see a Kimly Scott viz land in our top 10. She also had several in our top 30 this year. In this viz, she eloquently tells the story of food and how it connects to her past, family, and her culture. We personally think that Kimly is THE best data storyteller in the Tableau Community and this visualization helps prove that point. A work of art!

This is just so damn cool!  There may not be a ton of "data" behind it, but just check out how he built a chart that looks exactly like a light saber! Then check out how that light saber is animated when changing crystals. Is that insane or what??? How did he do it? What a display of ingenuity and creativity.

When we saw this Iron Viz entry, we both said "this could win!". In this viz, Hideaki tells the story of the tuna. It is built much like we would build business dashboards, in a simple landscape view with navigation buttons. But dang, what a story he tells and what great visuals he uses to tell the story. Everything is so clean, concise and consistent throughout.

Like we said, this could win!

In our list so far, this is the first true, business dashboard...and it's sooo good. This dashboard digs into complaint insights looking at which had timely responses, top issues, and much more. The subtle red color used does enough to show that these are problems and to alert you of the problems, but to not distract from the overall view. And this is jam-packed with information, yet not cluttered at all. Incredible work, Sadia!

Tanya has become an absolute all-star over the past couple of years. Pretty much everything she creates is a masterpiece. In this workbook, she visualizes the key interactions between characters on Game of Thrones. The chord diagram allows you to see those interactions in a very interactive way...and it's beautiful as well. Tanya did such an incredible job of just giving off a total GoT vibe. Love it!

The way to Ken's heart is most certainly Harry Potter (and Lord of the Rings). Kevin is not as big of a fan of either, but he is a huge fan of this viz! This visual has the look and feel of something "Harry Potter" and uses pretty simple visuals (for the most part) to tell his story. But what really won us over is that chart at the bottom! We cannot describe how much we love that! Check it out for yourself!

We truly believe that any of our top three vizzes could have ended up number one. This Iron Viz entry from Kevin Wee is insanely cool! Absolutely every chart is masterfully crafted. The color-usage is just beautiful. And the story-telling is second-to-none. Like we said about the tuna viz above, this could win Iron Viz and probably should! A masterpiece!

We've preached it for a while now...Kasia may be the best Tableau practitioner in the world. Her design skills are second to none and just read one of her guest blog posts on our website to realize that she's also a technical wizard.

Kasia has landed on all five previous "favorite vizzes" blog posts and videos we've created. She was in the first spot in 2022 & 2023, the 4th spot in 2021, the second spot in 2024, and has a viz on our favorite vizzes ever list. This year, she once again lands in the second spot (and could have easily been #1) with her Horrors Hall of Fame viz.

Is anyone a better overall designer than Kasia? Wow. The subtle animations, the background design, the creepy crawlers running across the screen. If you saw this on a website, you would never know it was built in Tableau. Incredible!

As a side note, Kevin HATES scary movies. He and his wife couldn't even watch the first season of Stranger Things, a show made for pre-teens. In the first season when Will disappears, then the lights start flickering, Kevin stood up and said dismissively, "I'm out!".

Okay, drumroll please...

Our favorite viz of 2025 is:

This Pawnee Parks viz is just another great example of Lisa's creativity and humor. It reminds us of her Mean Girls viz (which landed her in our top 5 last year) and also reminds us of Kasia's Dwight Schrute's Surveillance System viz from 2021 (which only didn't show up in our past favorites because of the Kasia / Lisa / Adam / Brian rule). Like those others, her Pawnee Parks viz is a treasure trove of easter eggs and show-related humor. You could spend hours exploring this, laughing the entire time.

And just so you know, Lisa is just as much fun in person as she would seem to be from looking at her work. If you see her at the Tableau Conference, we highly recommend hanging out with her for as long as you can.

Okay, that's it for our 2025 favorites. What can we say...the creativity in our community just keeps leveling up year after year. We can't wait to see what 2026 brings.

Thank you for another awesome year and thank you for everyone who has visited our website. We cannot tell you how much we appreciate it. Happy New Year!
